The Bishop of Tenorio's castle.
This castle was built as a monastery according to an order by Alfonso VI in honour of the saints Servando and Germano. But due to the fact that it is close to the Alcántara bridge it was transformed into a fortress for the defence of the town.
It is situated opposite the Alcántara bridge. It was reconstructed on the site of the ruins of the Arab castle. It is one of the finest examples of Mudejar military architecture in Spain. The cylindrical towers and crenellations with its horseshoe arches. The gateways are quite Mudejar.
