There is a large hole of more than 200 m. in length from which stone was extracted during the Roman period. In the centre of the quarry there is a non-excavated stone spire, known as the “agulla del Mèdol”. The stone extracted from this quarry was used to build a great many of the most important buildings in Tarraco.
