Palacio Arzobispal de Alcalá de Henares - Episcopal Palace of Alcalá de Henares
The palace was the residence of the archbishops of Toledo from the 13th until the 19th century. In 1939 it was seriously damaged by fire, and not only a valuable artistic heritage but also the Central State Archive were lost to the flames. The façade we see today was designed by Alonso de Covarrubias in the 16th century. The site also has a tower built by Archbishop Pedro Tenorio, which recalls the building's former use as a defensive fortress.
