Did you know that some of the famous triptychs such as the "Garden of Earthly Delights" or the "Adoration of the Magi" by Hieronymus Bosch have grisailles or paintings on the back? This educational exhibition in the Prado Museum offers a chance to discover them.
The show gives a different point of view of some of the triptychs that are usually on view in the museum: the back. Through life-size photographs, visitors can see how various works by the early Flemish painters such as van Eyck or Weyden incorporate monochrome paintings resembling sculpted stones; or how the use of oil reinforces the sculptural appearance of the grisailles in works by Alincbrot or van der Stock; or Hieronymus Bosch's distinctive use of colour in his works.
