This festival takes place every year in Mérida , Extremadura, with an official programme featuring films which have yet to be commercially released in Spain.

The festival’s official programme is combined with parallel festival on social cinema, and another on films by young creators and works by film-makers from Extremadura. The festival also includes the awards ceremony for the MIRADAS prizes, which are given in recognition of outstanding institutions and personalities in the dissemination of cinematographic activity in Extremadura.
