Step by step on the streets of Toledo

Toledo is a perfect city for strolling. To appreciate it in all its glory, you need to take your time, to walk unhurriedly, because everything you will see in the historic quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage site, will impress you from the outside and the inside. With good reason, because this city in Spain boasts one of the finest monumental heritages in Europe. The Cathedral, Monastery of San Juan del los Reyes, Tavera Hospital, Alcázar (fortress), Santa María la Blanca, church of San Tomé... Whatever direction you take, you will find beauty in the churches, bridges, monasteries, synagogues and mosques you come upon along the way.

Besides, there are also several pedestrian routes which will enable you to enjoy Toledo from a different perspective. For example, the Paseo de la Vega avenue, which stretches from the Tavera Hospital to the Puerta de la Bisagra gate, with its ancient trees and rose garden; the Paseo de Recaredo, which runs alongside the city wall; and the nature trail along the banks of the River Tagus, which winds its way around most of the city.
