Car Hire Whilst we are unaware of any company offering specially adapted cars, we understand that major international car hire firms have automatic cars in their range of vehicles. In several towns and summer resorts there is a taxi service (Eurotaxi) with vehicles suitable for the wheelchair bound. Blind Citizens Blind citizens in Spain also use white walking sticks. Drivers Exempt from using seat-belts should carry at all times a Spanish translation of their exemption certificate validated by the Spanish Consulate in the UK. Beaches The official guide on Spanish beaches, with indication of suitability for the disabled is available on line. Many of the autonomous communities in the Mediterranean area and the Canary Islands are following in the pioneering foot steps of the Valencia Region and are providing their beaches with access ramps, they are allocating areas of the beach and supplying bathing aids for the disabled. The local tourist offices will be able to supply information on facilities in their areas of Influence. Sea bathing chairs are available free of charge at several beaches in the Calviá municipality (Mallorca), including the resorts of Paguera, Santa Ponsa, Magaluf, Palmanova and Illetas. However, holders of the EU document (blue, depicting a photograph of the authorised person ) will be entitled to the same parking provisions as local residents, provided that the relevant autonomous governments adhere to the EU regulations on this matter. Whilst policy on disabled parking is establsihed by the local council, the local tourist office may also be in a position to assist you further with this matter.   Public Telephones For the disabled are available in capital towns and popular summer resorts throughout Spain. Spanish Railways (RENFE) Provide wheelchairs at main city frontier stations. The AVE high speed trains between  offer facilities for wheelchair users. www.renfe.es
