Exhibition: Mariano Fortuny (1838-1874)
MNAC - Museu Nacional d´Art de Catalunya
'The Spanish Wedding'. Barcelona
A unique opportunity to take a complete tour of the creative universe of this prominent and versatile Spanish artist from the 19th century.
The collection will cover Fortuny's work as a painter, watercolourist, draughtsman and engraver. One of the lesser-known sides of the artist is also explored through this exhibition, giving visitors an insight into his interest for antique collecting. Works from the collections held at the Prado, such as 'The Painter's Children in the Japanese Room', will be on display alongside others that have rarely travelled from their usual places of exhibition such as 'The Spanish Wedding' (MNAC) and 'The Choice of a Model' (National Gallery of Art, Washington).
