The city of Jerez in Cadiz celebrates its appointment as the 'European Wine City 2014' with a range of activities related to wine tourism, flamenco and the world of horses. This is the best possible year to discover this destination in Andalusia.

This year the European Network of Wine Cities (RECEVIN) has shone its spotlight on Jerez, and the city has arranged a calendar packed with interesting events, as this is also the year of its 750th anniversary. For example, the Jerez Festival takes place from 21 February to 8 March (the perfect way to experience all the passion of flamenco).

In May there is Vinoble 2014 (the international sweet and fortified wine fair) and the famous Horse Fair (a genuine spectacle featuring thoroughbred horses from 11 to 18 May).

Summer brings the wine harvest festivals; autumn, European Wine Tourism Day (6-9 November); and at the end of the year there is 'Christmas in Jerez: Zambomba and Wine'.

There are also a number of other events on the calendar, such as the Motorcycle Grand Prix, a mediaeval science congress, the Pasarela Flamenca catwalk shows and the Bulería Festival.
