Winter holidays in Spain
If you decide to come to Spain in winter, we have some ideas that might inspire you. Many people are enjoying their Christmas holidays this time of year, and it's a great time to discover Spain and its traditions. Did you know that in Spain people eat 12 grapes to see in the New Year, and that on the eve of 6 January the "Three Kings" leave presents for the children? And of course, you can't forget your Christmas shopping, so we recommend visiting the shopping areas in the cities.Winter is also the skiing season – but the sun will be shining! Spain has famous resorts such as Baqueira Beret, Formigal (in the Pyrenees), and Sierra Nevada, which is the southernmost ski resort in Europe and just over an hour by car from the beach. And speaking of the beach... in winter there are coastal areas where the weather is still nice, like the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands. Would you like to take a dip? Other popular options this time of year are a few nights in a country house lodge inland, enjoying a warm fireplace, or a few relaxing days at a spa. And to celebrate the end of the winter, fancy coming to the Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Cadiz, for example?
