Ceuta since prehistoric times
The museum is set in a beautiful neo-Classical building dating from 1900, an example of the civil engineering works carried out by the military in Ceuta.
The collection is exhibited in five rooms, and features archaeological remains found in Ceuta dating from the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods, as well as Roman, Medieval and Islamic items. There is a collection of Punic and Roman amphorae, as well as Hispano-Muslim ceramics. Especially important are the marble sarcophagi of the Four Seasons, and the remains of the 14th-century Arab university known as the Madrasa al-Yadida.
