The tower has a square floor plan and Gothic architecture, and is one of the most singular buildings of its kind in Europe and unique in Majorca. Standing 23 metres tall, it served as a refuge for the townspeople and a defence for the Canyamel valley.
This distinctive monument on the island of Majorca was built by the Montsó family in the mid 13th century, and today is still in a good state of conservation.
It is divided into three floors. The lower floor includes a survey of the history of the monument and the chance to see a documentary. On the first floor there is an interesting ethnographic exhibition (ceramics, armaments and military accoutrements) and a display of arts and crafts. Finally, the top floor offers a panoramic view over the valley.
