In August, O Carballiño, in the province of Ourense, celebrates its traditional Octopus Festival.
Thousands of diners come together around huge copper cooking pots to sample this food, which is so typical in Galicia. Between 25,000 and 30,000 kilos of octopus are prepared during the festivities, as well as other traditional regional dishes such as Cea bread and pies, accompanied by Ribeiro wine.
