Every year the International Kayak Regatta is held in the unique setting of Sanabria Lake, attracting the world's finest in the discipline.

It is a point-scoring event for the Castile-León championship and comprises two competitions: on one side are the one- and two-man regattas, while on the other are the K4 (kayak) and C4 (canoe) regattas. The start point is at Viquiella beach, with a two-lap triangular circuit around the lake.
