The Spanish Music Festival takes place in the city of León and in several towns throughout the province, home to part of the Way of Saint James.
This now well-established event originated in 1988, and has a faithful following which grows ever larger with every edition. One of its particular features is that each year has been the occasion for the presentation and revelation of outstanding new musicians. The wide variety and quality of the performances, together with the inclusion of contemporary music, new creations and some Spanish-American composers, make this competition a must for music lovers. World-renowned artists have performed in this festival, such as the sopranos Ainhoa Arteta and Ana María Sánchez, violinist Malikian and pianists Josep Colom and Miguel Ituarte.
