Navarre

Navarre has a multitude of spaces recommended for birdwatching ( Señorío de Bértiz Nature Reserve and Las Bardenas Reales Nature Reserve , among others). All are distinguished by their easy access and because they allow the birds to be seen without disturbing them or placing them at risk.

If you decide to travel to Navarre, you'll find various points offering information for birdwatchers (visitor centres, observatories and natural recreational areas), companies offering these services, accommodation suitable for birdwatchers… and over 300 species awaiting your visit!

Practical tips

  • You'll find different species of birds depending on the habitat (Navarre's typical Atlantic oak and beech forests, high-mountain areas, lakes and reservoirs, irrigated farmlands, steppe landscapes…). Depending on the place you visit, you may need one or another type of optical equipment.

  • In summer it is advisable to time your outings for morning or evening to avoid the midday heat.

  • In mountain areas the best time is in spring and summer, when there is no snow in the area.

  • Check for the presence of wind before setting out, particularly in the area of La Ribera.

  • You must avoid disturbing the birds, and always keep to the signposted areas.

  • On the Birding Navarra webpage you will find all the necessary information and contact details for the services (guides, agencies and accommodation) so you can organise your trip.
