It’s easy to arrange a fun and instructive excursion with your family in the volcanic island of La Gomera, where there are a host of hidden surprises waiting for everyone. The first of these is the Garajonay National Park, where you can walk amid a leafy lauirisilva wood like a fairytale forest, see the typical of Gomera lizard, and (if you're on guided tour) hear legends of the old settlers. You’ll also find interactive exhibitions in the visitor centre which will make it easier to discover all the secrets of this area. More surprises: on this island, you’ll have the chance to hear the curious “silbo gomero” (or “Gomeran whistle”) which is used for communication and can be heard at a distance of 3,000 metres. After a swim at the beach, younger visitors are bound to want to go on a boat trip around the island where you may see dolphins and whales from the deck, and take some unforgettable photos to show everyone back home.
