You'll find Castellón on the Spanish Mediterranean coast in the north of the Region of Valencia, with over 120 kilometres of coastline and some of the loveliest beaches in the area. It’s known as Costa del Azahar - the Orange Blossom Coast.
There are a total of 16 coastal towns and villages to explore, some as famous as Benicàssim, Benicarló and Oropesa del Mar. Castellón has eight nature reserves. Two of them include unspoiled coastlines: the Sierra de Irta nature reserve (with coastal sites like Peñíscola and Alcalà de Xivert-Alcossebre), and the Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca nature reserve. Highly recommended (and particularly for scuba-diving) is a visit to the Islas Columbretes nature and marine reserve.Water sports The various yacht clubs, sailing schools and marinas in Castelló all offer the opportunity to enjoy sailing, scuba diving and kayaking, as well as renting waterbikes.Exploring inland Although you might not think so from the beach, Castellón is a very mountainous area. It is well worth venturing into the interior to explore mediaeval towns such as Morella.
