The history of Melilla
The museum is set in the Torre de la Vela Tower, built on an old 16th-century defensive battery in the Santa Ana port.
It has three floors and a five-storey tower. The first floor contains the library, and is the venue for temporary exhibitions and activities. The permanent exhibition begins on the second floor with rooms on Prehistory, Numismatics, and Punic/Roman Classical Antiquities. The third floor houses rooms with Medieval Moorish Art and the section on Modern, Contemporary Melilla. These rooms give access to the Royal Defensive Wall battery, where you will find the open-air section of the museum, with heraldic exhibits.
