It is located in the Spanish Geology and Mining Institute building. The museum aims to promote the wealth and diversity of geological and mining heritage. To this end it exhibits a collection of minerals, rocks and fossils from all the different Spanish regions, and from various parts of the world. A large part of the collection is the result of work by important figures in geology and mining.
