D. Juan Manuel, cousin of King Alfonso X the Wise commission this Dominican convent on the site of the fortress of his uncle.The building was constructed to serve as mausoleum for its founder.Its XIV century Gothic/Mudejar apse is a masterpiece.Also of note are its Plateresque funerary chapels from the XVI century and its exterior decorated with heraldic coats of arms.
