Nava hosts this event revolving around cider.
During the second weekend in July and the week running up to it, the village of Nava, in Asturias, celebrates its most famous festivity: the Cider Festival. During the event, first held in 1969, the village organises numerous cultural activities related to this drink which is so deep-rooted in the region.
There are talks, discussions, exhibitions, concerts, theatre… until Saturday’s proclamation and the firecracker that marks the start of a free tasting session where thousands of litres of cider are consumed. The only requirement for being able to drink for free is that you wear a green handkerchief around your neck. On Sunday, the last day of the fair, the International Pouring Competition takes place.
