In waters off Asturias, in the Bay of Biscay, the Goanna Pro is held every year. The competition is part of the surfing WQS (World Qualifying Series) Championship.

The event coincides with the Easter week celebrations, and is now a traditional event on Tapia beach. The competition brings together the best surfers on the international circuit, as well as crowds of visitors who come down to the beach to witness the spectacle.
