Located in the Castile-León region in the northern part of the interior of Spain. It is home to several outstanding natural spaces, including the Sierra de Urbión mountains, the Laguna Negra lake, and the Cañón del Río Lobos Nature Reserve.
Soria has a rich artistic and architectural heritage, and is famous for its examples of the Romanesque porticoed style in Spain, as seen in monuments such as the Church of San Miguel in San Esteban de Gormaz and the Cathedral of Santa María in Burgo de Osma. There are also other buildings in this style in the capital city of Soria, including the Pro-cathedral and the Monastery of San Juan. Soria is part of the “Camino del Cid” tourist route, based on the legend of the figure of El Cid Campeador.
The local gastronomy revolves mainly around meats, with kid and lamb taking pride of place. Butter is another of the typical local products, and this is also where the famous wines from the Ribera del Duero label are made.
