Palma de Mallorca, one of the top destinations in the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, is perfectly connected with all the different parts of Spain and with the world's major cities. It is an average of two hours by air from most European capitals. Its international airport of Son Sant Joan is located only 8 kilometres from the city, which can be reached both by taxi (there is a taxi rank on the Arrivals level next to door D; the fare varies according to whether it is a weekday or a weekend, when there is a €2.70 surcharge) and by bus number 1 and 21. Access to the airport by car is via the Palma-Santanyí dual carriageway.
Another way to travel to Palma is by sea. There are regular ferry lines which connect Majorca with the other Balearic Islands and with the cities of Barcelona, Valencia and Denia. It is also a departure and stopping point for many pleasure cruises.
