Cartagena
Cartagena offers fascinating cultural visits, such as the Roman Theatre museum and the Underwater Archaeology Museum. With over 40 kilometres of coastline, you’ll find family-friendly beaches and unspoiled natural areas, like Calblanque Natural Park.

Mazarrón
The coastline around the town features striking sculptural forms, created by erosion, in areas such as Bolnuevo. You can explore this area and other unspoilt landscapes on 35 special paths, signposted and maintained for walkers and cyclists. We also recommend taking a boat trip to see whales or dolphins, or spending a morning in the fish market.

Águilas
Worth visiting for the views from the Hornillo viewing point or from the castle of San Juan de las Águilas, the town’s beach Las Delicias, the scenery of Cuatro Calas and La Carolina beach, the fishermen’s quarter of Pescadores, and for its intensely Mediterranean flavour.

San Pedro del Pinatar
This town features one of the largest areas of open-air mud therapy in Europe. Try a soak in the special salt-water pool, or visit one of the many hotels and centres offering specialist treatments. In the nearby Natural Park of Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro there are spectacular sunsets and tranquil wetlands.

Cabo de Palos
This town is next to one of the largest marine reserves of the Mediterranean, making it a must for underwater diving fans, as well as anyone who wants to try it. If you prefer relaxing on the sand, Cape Palos is a small peninsula, just 400 metres wide, edged with many coves with crystal clear, tranquil waters.

Los Alcázares
Pure relaxation. Here you can enjoy leisurely strolls along the long seafront promenade. You can try the tapas in one of the many beach bars, or go for a swim in the Mar Menor (this shallow, calm lagoon, with its high concentration of iodine and salts, is very therapeutic). You could even try a treatment at the nineteenth-century spa, Balneario de la Encarnación.

Santiago de la Ribera
An old fishing village with four kilometres of beaches where you can spend the day soaking up the sun, enjoying the sea, or practising water sports. It’s just 10 kilometres from Los Alcázares, and its beaches of fine golden sand also border the Mar Menor.
