What are the wines like?

Jumilla produces strong, expressive wines, mainly using the Monastrell grape. The young reds have strong colours and fruity bouquets. Meanwhile, the mature wines are meaty and stand out for their complex bouquet, with a hint of wood. The rosé wines, for their part, are the colour of rose, raspberry and cherry. They have a fruity aroma and are crisp and tasty on the palate. The white wines are also excellent, produced with the Macabeo grape. They are crisp tasting, with clean, bright colours.

How to get there

The Jumilla Wine Route runs inland in the Region of Murcia, in southeastern Spain. There are various means of transport available to get to there. Murcia-San Javier is the closest airport, 96 kilometres away. Furthermore, there are several railway stations within a 50-kilometre radius, in towns such as Hellín, Cieza and Villena, with daily services to and from Valencia, Alicante and Murcia. Jumilla is between the Regions of Murcia, Castile-La Mancha, Andalusia and Valencia. This gives it good road communications. The A-3, A-30 and A-31 motorways link up with the N-334 road, which provides direct access to the town. Distances vary according to your departure point: 355 kilometres from Madrid, 160 kilometres from Valencia, 90 from Alicante and 70 from Murcia.
