Introduction
Come and discover the Wine Route in Lleida-Costers del Segre, a journey round the wineries in Lleida to learn about the gastronomy, culture and geography of the area. On this route you'll be able to taste traditional or recently-produced wines, made in charming wineries; and you'll also be able to visit districts with a rich cultural heritage and a beautiful countryside. We invite you to discover the middle basin of the Segre River, between the Pyrenees and the Ebro River, with vineyards growing at 200 - 400 metres above sea level. A trip to discover all about wine, where past, present and future come together. Come and enjoy!
Wine towns
The route covers the districts of Pallars Jussà, Segrià, Urgell, Garrigues, Noguera and Segarra. Here you'll find wineries, urban and rural accommodation, shops-cellars and restaurants. If you wish, you can take part in wine- and oil-tasting courses, and purchase gourmet products. And while you take a walk in these areas you'll discover remains of times gone by, the footprints of many people who have lived in these lands over the centuries.

What will I find in the region?
Typical fairs and festivals. Many of them are related to gastronomy, such as the Quality Extra Virgin Oil Fair and Les Garrigues Fair (Les Borges Blanques, in January), Honey Festival – Balaguer Fair (May), l'Aplec del Caragol snail festival (Lleida, in May), Melon Fair (Artesa de Segre, in August), Wine Harvest Festival in Verdú (October), Wine Festival in Lleida (October) and the Quince Jelly Fair (Tremp, in October).
Delicious and diverse gastronomy. It includes natural products that are planted, grown and produced in the fields in the area: fruit, vegetables, oil, meat…
Monuments, museums and visitor centres that are always worth visiting.
Areas that are perfect for outdoor activities: mountain bike routes, adventure sports, water activities, hiking, bird watching…
What are the wines like?
They offer a wide variety of fine wines, fit for the best menus: The red wines are deep, fruity and elegant, with predominance of Tempranillo, Cabernet, Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, and increasing presence of Sirah and Garnacha. The white wines are complex, expressive and persistent. The main varieties are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño, Riesling and Macabeu. In general they are highly chromatic full-bodied wines, that improve when stored in bottles for a certain period of time.
How to get there
The route is situated in the province of Lleida, in Catalonia. There is an airport in the province and the AVE high-speed train can be taken from the city of Lleida. It is well connected with large cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza and Seville. Lleida is also conveniently connected with the different towns in the province by road. The main roads to get there are the Nordeste toll motorway (AP-2), the Lleida-Barcelona motorway (A-2) and Eje Transversal road (C-25).
