Sports activities in Lugo

Lugo is a place where you will enjoy the pleasure of practising sport in natural surroundings. This city in the north of Spain is situated on the banks of the River Miño, in a fluvial setting which has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Just a few minutes from its impressive fortified walls, you will find a variety of hiking trails through leafy forests. Two other rivers, the Mera and Rato, flow through the city, so you will be constantly accompanied by the trickle of water in the background. And with so many rivers, there is no better way to discover the natural landscape near Lugo than by practising kayaking.

Or you might choose to explore your surroundings on horseback: there are several equestrian clubs and centres that organise horse riding in the area. If you prefer something quieter, then there is nothing like a day of fishing at one of the five official areas; and if it’s excitement you’re after, you can treat yourself to the experience of flying over the city in a light aircraft.
