The Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, a land of adventure
The Aragonese Pyrenees offer the perfect setting for outdoor sports, and include several national parks and protected nature areas. These are home to a wide variety of fauna and flora, many of which are native to the area.
Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido
With peaks of up to 3,000 metres high, spectacular gorges and white-water rivers, this Spanish National Park is the ideal place for sports lovers like you.
The Park, as well as for numerous other activities, is an outstanding place for rock climbing. Imagine ascending Monte Perdido (at 3,355 metres, the third highest peak in the Pyrenees), and the feeling of achievement at the top, where you’ll be rewarded by the sight of the grey summits with the green forests spreading at your feet. There’s also a surprise awaiting you on the north face: two glaciers suspended over the valley.
In the area around the Park there are several companies offering activities such as rafting on the Ara and Cinca rivers, paragliding so you can experience a bird’s eye view of the landscape, or the chance to take an excursion in a 4x4 up to spectacular viewing points. And there’s a mountain refuge if you’re planning to spend a few days.
