Beech forests in the autumn

In Spain, the second most mountainous country in Europe, the beech forests await you. These shady, leafy and moist woods can mainly be found in the north of Spain. The list is endless, although the most spectacular include the forests located in the Picos de Europa National Park and the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park; the Pedrosa beech forest in Segovia; the Montejo forest, one of the southernmost in Europe, situated in the Sierra del Rincón Mountains near Madrid, which has UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status; the Tejera Negra Nature Reserve in Guadalajara; the Señorío de Bértiz Nature Reserve in Navarre; and the beech forests in the volcanic area of La Garrotxa in Girona.
