Spain: the ideal waters for recreational fishing
Yacht on the water
The Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea are perfect for a day's fishing. If you like deep-sea fishing, then the marine resorts along the Spanish coastline will help you organise a tailor-made holiday.
If you like sports fishing, then climb aboard and enjoy a few unforgettable days at sea. Spain's marine resorts make it easy – you'll find everything you need to enjoy this sporting activity.
One option is to spend a day's fishing in a boat, accompanied by a professional with in-depth knowledge of the coast. Sound interesting? If you're coming with your own boat, then we would recommend you check the practical advice for sailing in Spain. Bear in mind that you need a fishing license. You can apply for one at the corresponding administration. Spain's marine resorts will give you information on the steps to follow and the organisations you need to contact.
The Mediterranean Sea
You'll find marine resorts offering boat trips for sports fishing all along Spain's Mediterranean coast. For example, on the Costa Daurada you'll be able to fish in shallow waters in a mild Mediterranean climate all year round. Meanwhile, the Costa Brava is home to the marine resort of Roses-Cap de Creus, where you can look forward to enjoying a good day's fishing, and the Sant Feliu de Guíxols Costa Brava resort. Very close to the city of Barcelona you also have the Vilanova i la Geltrú Marine Resort, and in the Ebro Delta, the Sant Carles de la Ràpita – Delta de l'Ebre Marine Resort.
There are also marine resorts in the Balearic Islands where you can organise a day's fishing. Specifically, in Majorca you can find Llucmajor Marine Resort – Bay of Palma. The coast offers idyllic coves, leisure activities and centuries of maritime tradition.
The Mediterranean coast of the Region of Valencia also has marine resorts offering this kind of fishing: Benicarló-Peñíscola and Marina Alta make the Region of Valencia an ideal destination for sports fishing from boats.
Another option for fishing on Spain's Mediterranean coast is the marine resort of Mar Menor – Cabo de Palos (Murcia). You'll find the Mar Menor is an inland sea with high salt content and a sandy sea floor. And if you want, you can also choose the Ceuta Marine Resort, which is the only one situated in the Strait of Gibraltar.
The Atlantic Ocean
In the north, in the province of Pontevedra, you'll find the Rías Baixas Marine Resort.
There are many different harbours that make this an ideal part of northern Spain for water sports.
Would you like to come and enjoy the sea in Spain? There's fishing and much, much more to do, including endless options for leisure activities in the water. Come and see for yourself.
