GR 37: La Serranía - Cattle Tracks
The GR 37 runs through the northwest area of the province of Valencia, part of the district of La Serranía on the border between the Autonomous Communities of Valencia and Aragón.
The route uses the most important herding tracks of the sub-district known as Muelas de Alpuente. It joins the localities of Aras de Alpuente, Titaguas, Alpuente and La Yesa on a circular route of 62 Km. It crosses spots of great interest, such as open ancient juniper forests or the sedentary mounds that appear up and down the route. In short, great contrasts of landscapes between very different mid and high mountain ecosystems. There are many cultural attractions, from prehistoric remains, wall paintings and Iberian settlements to perfectly conserved medieval sites in the town of Alpuente. You can also admire the Historic-Artistic Site of the «Los Arcos» aqueduct and piece of great pictorial value in La Yesa. However, of most importance on the path is the fact that the old cattle tracks have been recovered to ensure their maintenance through use as a footpath and thus avoid their disappearance.
