Description

This GR path has the vital feature of running along the Sistema Ibérico of Soria, crossing almost all of its sierras along the northern part of the province and extending to the south to connect with the spurs on the Sistema Central on the border of the province.

It joins other paths on this mountain range, such as the GR 93, Sierras of La Rioja, and the GR 90, Zaragoza Sistema Ibérico.
It runs for 510 km, split into 22 stages of the main route plus 13 stages corresponding to its variants and offshoots. It starts and ends in the localities of Ágreda, Almazán and the Celtiberian-Roman ruins of Tiermes. It also reaches the summits of the Moncayo, the representative heights of these mountains.
This route seeks to revive the historic and cultural heritage of the paths while showing all the singularities of the province. Many of these, used since time immemorial, have adopted different names according to the period and their use, a coincidence due to the physical conditioning factors of the land.It is likely that many of the initial routes marked by wild herbivores on their seasonal movements were later cattle tracks adopted in the Mesta to later be used as tracks and, in some cases, Royal Paths and are now roads.
