GR 56: Transeurensán
This parth is set within a project that seeks to connect, over old paths, the canyon of El Sil with the Manzaneda Massif. As a result, a GR path of approximately 100 km. has been outlined, which covers natural areas subject to acknowledgement by all those coming to discover the keys to rural Galicia.
The route leaves from the mouth of the river Sil, i.e. where it joins the Miño, to head towards the impressive walls of the El Sil climbing school. It continues to the Monastery of Estevo de Ribas in Sil, an emblematic point of the Ourense Ribeira Sacra, to join small rural villages before reaching the vantage point of As Gándaras. After a surprising visit to the Canyon of El Sil, the path drops down to the river to visit the old mills, with an opportunity to try good wines and spirits. From Sacardebois, a steep slope leads to the mountain, with an initial stop at the monastery of Montederramo. The climb continues up the Central Ourensano Massif, through the forests of O Meixón and Teixedo and the sierras of San Mamede, Queixa and Montes de O invernadeiro, which has recently been declared a natural park.At the end of the path is the Manzaneda mountain station.
