GR 50: Rota do Medievo
A GR Path that runs along the north of the province of A Coruña, from the leafy enclave of El Coto de Chelo, on the outskirts of Betanzos, to the apocalyptic landscape formed by the cliffs at Punta dos Aguillons, at the northern end of Cape Ortegal.
Through typical countryside, the route crosses valleys and low area of inland Galicia, where you will frequently see forests of oaks, chestnuts and pines, together with the green vegetaion of the damp areas of the banks that run parallel to the Galician rivers.Walkers often see the numerous examples of cultural and artistic heritage of the province:the monastery of Monfero, the monastery of Caaveiro in the Natural Park 'As Fragas do Eume',the castles of Naraío and Moeche and, almost at the end, San Andrés de Teixido, a pretty place and devote centre of pilgrimage at a dizzy height.
The path ends in La Serra da Capelada, an area of wild nature with herds of wild horses and cliffs that drop down directly to the sea.
