Description

The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum starts 2014 with an exhibition dedicated to French painter Paul Cézanne, considered to be the father of modern art.

The Cézanne exhibition (1839-1906) is the first monographic exhibition on this impressionist artist organised in Spain in the last 30 years. In this journey through his work, visitors will explore the relationship between two pictorial genres to which the artist devoted the same passion: landscapes and still life. Cézanne is a fundamental figure in painting from the second half of the 19th century. Like other impressionists, he painted his landscapes outdoors and, nevertheless, his works show no sign of seasons and times of day.
