Exhibition: The Ages of Man. Eucharistia
Church of Santa María. Aranda de Duero. Miguel Ángel Muñoz Romero
Aranda de Duero (in Burgos) is the venue in Castile-León for the 19th edition of 'The Ages of Man', one of Europe's leading exhibitions on religious art.
This is an opportunity for visitors to marvel at the rich heritage of the institution that owns Europe's largest collection of religious art: the Church in Castile-León.
'Eucharistia' is the title of this year's exhibition, and it focuses on the idea of the Eucharist as festive food and sacrifice. The exhibition is arranged into four sections. The venue for the first three is the church of Santa María, while the last section will be on display in the church of San Juan: two monuments which deserve a visit in themselves.
Visitors will be able to take a journey through the history of the Eucharist through the 130 items on display, featuring everything from the basic elements of the Eucharist such as the bread and wine and the banquet, through to the interpretations of it contained in the Old and New Testament.
This edition also includes the new 'Edades' Card, which enables visitors to obtain discounts in establishments throughout the region and is available in tourist offices in Castile-León.
