Cantabria

There are a range of transport options to get to Cantabria, this region of northern Spain.

By air

Santander airport is just 5 kilometres from the centre of the city. Iberia and Ryanair are the two companies operating here.

By sea

You can get to Cantabria by sea with the Brittany Ferries company, which runs services twice weekly to and from the English port of Plymouth.

By train

There are daily services between Madrid and Santander, usually stopping at other Cantabrian towns en route such as Reinosa and Torrelavega. The journey takes roughly 4 hours.

By road

Cantabria has a good network of roads and motorways, that cross the region and provide communications with the rest of Spain. Santander can be reached from Madrid (450 kilometres) on the A–67 dual carriageway (Autovía de la Meseta).
