Spanish Town - Poble Espanyol in Barcelona

Barcelona

Located on the Montjuïc mountain, this unique area was created for the Universal Exposition of 1929, where art, entertainment and culture are combined.

Found within Barcelona itself, this place is a monumental showcase of the different towns of Spain. Like an urban collage, its 49,000 pedestrianised square metres bring together representative examples of popular Spanish architecture. There are 117 buildings reproduced to scale, which would be the “ideal model” for the Spanish town with the main characteristics of each region. Walking through its streets and squares will be like enjoying a trip through all areas of Spain. Also, you can explore Spain's cuisine in its countless bars and restaurants.

However, there are many more surprises, since this space is also an active centre of leisure, culture and crafts. It houses the most important set of artisan workshops on mainland Spain. You can buy handicrafts, and learn how to make them through the workshops and family activities held at the weekend. The leisure options include other entertainment such as storytelling, parades, puppets or music concerts. The outdoor Sculpture Garden or the contemporary art collection of the Fran Daurel Foundation are other interesting proposals brought to you by the Pueblo Español.
