Description

Open, cosmopolitan and fun. This is Madrid, a city which offers practically endless possibilities, and with plenty of experience organising congresses and events.

Madrid, the Spanish capital, is a guarantee of success for any business meeting or congress. Located in the centre of Spain, it is a bridge between three continents (Europe, Africa and South America). The city has excellent transport connections with the rest of the world thanks to its Barajas International Airport just 12 kilometres from the centre, which handles over 40 million passengers a year. It is also home to the AVE high-speed train and the central hub for road and rail routes in Spain. It boasts two conference centres, two trade fair centres and multiple meeting centres, as well as a wide range of accommodation facilities. There are also a number of original venues for meetings such as a 19th-century palace, an opera house and a botanical garden.

According to ICCA statistics, Madrid is one of the world’s most important destinations for trade fairs, conventions and international events. And it’s easy to see why. The historic part of the Spanish capital is brimful with art, history and culture, the site of buildings such as the Prado Museum, one of the world’s major art galleries, as well as the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofía Art Centre. Its lively streets offer a range of tempting shopping opportunities, and it has an exciting nightlife.

The city has a varied, year-round cultural programme, with concerts, exhibitions, festivals and all types of shows and performances. This, combined with its leisure and shopping options, its gastronomy, as well as the exceptional surrounding areas, some of which have the World Heritage designation, are just some of the factors that make Madrid such a successful choice for the organisation of congresses. The Madrid Convention Bureau has the Spanish “Q” for Tourism Quality certificate.
