There is always a moment of the year when we start fantasising... how about getting away for a weekend? Spain is the perfect choice. There are some ideal cities for enjoying an escape with the family or friends. What’s more, the mild climate means that any time of the year is great for a visit.It’s hard to choose some of the best places in Spain to spend a weekend, because there are so many, but you’ll find some excellent suggestions here. Cities with charm, where you can stroll around peacefully, unwind, and try some amazing food.  

Girona Girona is a small, romantic, and surprising city with a lot to offer. It’s recently become popular with visitors who come to see some of the locations where Game of Thrones was filmed. Oviedo Oviedo is the capital of Asturias and is surrounded by nature. The city is notable for its pre-Romanesque art and architecture - climb Mount Naranco to see for yourself - but it also has plenty of cultural and culinary attractions.

ValladolidValladolid is known as the city the Pisuerga river passes through. Its Plaza Mayor square is one of the largest in the country, and you’re sure to find one or two good designation of origin local wines to sample, as Valladolid is a magnificent wine tourism destination.SevilleAs the popular song says, ‘Seville has a colour all of its own’. The Guadalquivir river divides the city in two. Take a leisurely stroll through the streets and soak up the colours and sounds. Another great idea is to simply relax at a pavement café and admire the tower of La Giralda.Santiago de Compostela, San Sebastián, Valencia, Logroño and Granada are some of the other iconic cities that are perfect for a weekend break. They are all great for relaxing in and starting the week refreshed and raring to go.
