Cultural encounter
The Cordoba Archaeological Museum houses a very complete collection ranging from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages.
The museum is arranged over two floors and around several courtyards. It has an important collection dedicated to prehistory and local archaeology with items from Iberian, Roman and Visigoth cultures. Also of interest are Moorish, Mudejar, Gothic, and Renaissance pieces. The Iberian Lion of Nueva Carteya and the Roman sculpture of the god Mithra are outstanding pieces with great historic and artistic value.
The recent extension works in the museum have uncovered the largest theatre in Roman Hispania, which will be integrated into the visit.
