Built on the initiative of bishop Juan Arias Dávila. The church has a rectangular floor plan, with circular towers and a Baroque steeple. The architects Juan Guas and Gil de Hontañón were probably involved in its construction. The castle is protected by a fortified wall that dates from an earlier period.
