An exquisite architecture.
Plasencia cathedral is made up of two buildings with different styles. It has three naves and a ribbed vault on top.
The Plasencia Cathedral comprises two buildings. One is the so-called Old Cathedral, begun in the 13th century, which is in a transitional Romanesque to Gothic style. The remains of the early church correspond with the nave, the western façade, the cloister, which is Gothic, and the chapter house, covered by a typical Byzantine gadroon dome. The other is the New Cathedral, begun in the 15th century in the Gothic style. It has high vaulted ceilings supported by column arches. The Main Reredos is from the 17th century, with carvings by Gregorio Fernández and paintings by Francisco Ricci. Of note inside the church are the choir stalls, in the transitional flamboyant Gothic to Plateresque style. The Old Cathedral now houses the Cathedral Museum.
