Maios Fiesta

The Maios Fiesta celebrates the arrival of good weather in Galicia.

The fiesta is of Celtic origin and is related to the appearance of the first spring flowers. It is a deep-rooted celebration throughout Galicia and especially so in the cities of Pontevedra and Ourense. The "maios" are figures made out of flowers. In Ourense, the "maios" form part of a parade of floats filled with flowers and fruit, accompanied by singing children.
