The town of Villarrobledo, in Albacete, has one of the most traditional carnivals in Spain. The town has been celebrating it since the early 19th century.
The streets are full of joy and partying in Villarrobledo those days. The celebration starts on Thursday with the "arrival of the Juanes" - characters dressed up with masks with a crow's beak, and wolf's claws as shoes. They are in charge of starting the festival. From then and for nine days there are parades, murgas and chirigotas (humorous musical groups), costume contests... Children also have a main role with the children's carnival and special contests.
