Valencia has an excellent network of maritime, air and land connections and is one of the main communications hubs on the Spanish Mediterranean. The Region has an extensive road network, including the AP-7 motorway, which goes along the Mediterranean coast, and the A-3 which goes to Madrid.
Valencia is also an important rail hub, with international, inter-city and regional services. The main station is the Estación del Norte, located in the heart of the city, with services running to major Spanish cities. The main services are the AVE high-speed trains which cover the distance between Madrid and Valencia in around 100 minutes, and the Euromed services, which offer connections between Valencia and Barcelona in about three hours. The airport is on the outskirts of Valencia, and offers air connections to numerous destinations in Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona, Palma, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Asturias, Bilbao, Malaga, Seville, Santiago de Compostela, Tenerife and Vigo, as well as international flights to and from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Romania and Belgium.
Access to the city from the airport is fast, with bus, underground and taxi services available. Valencia Port offers scheduled ferry services to Italy, Majorca, Ibiza and Minorca.
