Cadaqués, the city of Dalí
The Dalí Theatre Museum in Figueres
In Cadaqués there’s a surprise waiting for you in the house of the Surrealist genius Salvador Dalí. Known as the Portlligat House-Museum, it consists of a group of fishermen's cabins arranged to form a kind of maze, which Dalí modified over a period of 40 years to make this incredible home and workshop a reality. You'll feel you're walking into a dream as you move through the courtyard or the irregularly-proportioned rooms, or when you see the objects belonging to Dalí like his rugs, his antique furniture or such strange items as giant eggs, a sofa in the shape of a pair of lips, or a Michelin man model.
In Cadaqués you’ll also be able to make the most of this charming town on the Costa Brava, where you can swim against a backdrop of little white houses overlooking the sea, and let yourself be soothed by the tranquillity and the light that inspired Dalí.
Art lovers will have the chance to visit the Púbol Castle (about 50 kilometres away) which Dalí designed for his true love, and the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres (40 kilometres) "the largest surrealist object in the world".
