If you prefer to travel by metro, there are two lines which depart from the transport depot in Plaza de España square and the UIB station and connect to the suburban train service and to several urban buses. It normally operates from 6.30 am to around 9:45 pm.
Taxis operate at all hours of the day, every day, although the fares vary according to the day of the week. There are also various surcharges for items such as night service, departures from the airport or the port, and for rides to more remote tourist destinations such as Bellver castle.

The choice of whether to buy several single tickets or a transport pass will depend on the time you're planning to spend in the city. If you want to take a tour of the whole island, one of the most convenient ways to get around is to rent a car at the Son Sant Joan airport or in the city itself. The Palma Pass tourist card is a chip card offering discounts for cultural and leisure exhibitions which includes 10 EMT bus trips and a return trip on the number 1 bus line (Aeroport – Ciutat – Port ). It can be purchased for 48 hours (€34) or 72 hours (€41).
